History

WaterAid Ghana is a non-profit organization working to make clean water, decent toilets,and good hygiene normal for everyone in Ghana.
Part of the global WaterAid federation, we've been active in Ghana since 1985. We partner with government, local NGOs, and communities
to deliver sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services to the poorest and most marginalized people.
To date, we have reached over 1.2 million people with clean water, 496,000+ with safe sanitation, and 3.7 million with hygiene services.
Beyond projects, we advocate for stronger systems and policies so that change lasts for generations.

Mission

At WaterAid, our mission is to transform the lives of the people who have been left furthest behind by improving access to safe water,

Vision

A Ghana where everyone has sustainable access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene by 2030.

That means: No one should walk hours for water. No child should miss school because there's no toilet. No mother should give birth in a clinic without clean water.
WaterAid believes these 3 basics — water, toilets, hygiene — unlock health, education, and opportunity. And they should be normal for everyone, not a luxury.

Objectives

WaterAid Ghana's objectives are to improve access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene in communities across Ghana. We aim to achieve this by
implementing sustainable WASH projects, advocating for policy changes, and raising awareness about the importance of WASH.

Leadership

WaterAid Ghana is led by a team of dedicated professionals who are committed to our mission. Our leadership team brings a wealth of experience in
WASH, development, and organizational management. They provide strategic direction, oversee program implementation, and ensure that we remain
accountable to the communities we serve.

Ewurabena Yanyi-Akofur	Country Director	She heads the Ghana country office, managing national advocacy partnerships with state institutions like the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA). She was recently honored as a traditional development queenmother ("Kosom Pognaba") in Bongo for her significant impact on rural WASH service delivery.
Mohammed Ibrahim Adokor	Head of Programmes	He leads the planning, implementation, and co-creation of water programs across communities, bringing over two decades of technical sector experience.
Jane Smith	Finance Manager	Ensure every cedi WaterAid Ghana receives is used transparently and effectively to deliver clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene to communities.
Barry King	Head of the people's department	He manages the organizational culture, human resource strategy, and workforce development for the national team.
